This weekend I read Fearless: Imagine Your Life Without Fear, the latest book by Max Lucado. We certainly live in an era of fear. Every day the news is filled with stories…

How can a loving God send people to Hell?
I never much cared for hell. The idea of a loving God sending people to a place of eternal punishment always sounded overly-harsh and inconsistent with the character of a God who loves us enough to create us and sacrifice his Son for us. Then I read Notes from the Tilt-a-Whirl in which N.D. Wilson explains hell in a way that totally rocked my world…
Book Review: Notes from the Tilt-a-Whirl
In Notes from the Twilt-a-Whirl, author N.D. Wilson takes the reader on a ride befitting the title… I found it to be thought provoking and yet thoroughly fun to read. Kind of a Donald Miller meets C.S. Lewis. Not many people can cite the philosophies Nietzsche, Plato, C.S. Lewis, and David Hume in a way that is not only understandable to the average reader but interesting and even entertaining.
What do Seth Godin, Rush Limbaugh, Barack Obama, and Rick Warren Have in Common?
There are a lot of marketing strategists, but none more influential than Seth Godin. There are a lot of political analysts, but none more influential than Rush Limbaugh. There are a lot of government leaders, but none more influential than Barack Obama. There are a lot of pastors, but none more influential than Rick Warren.
Why are these 4 so influential? What sets them apart from their colleagues?
Open Letter to the Cypress Meadows Arts Team
Dear Deana, Chris and the whole Cypress Arts team,
Thanks so much for the money you contributed towards the trip Jennifer and I took to Nakuru, Kenya. It was a blessing to learn that the airline wasn’t going to charge us for the two checked bags Jennifer and I each took. That freed us up to use the money given for other purposes. I thought you might want to know about some of the ways God used and blessed your generosity.
Book Review: The Hole in our Gospel
While in Kenya I had the opportunity to read The Hole in our Gospel by World Vision president Richard Stearns. In the book, Stearns claims that many Christians today view their faith as a personal transaction with God for eternal salvation and an internal belief system but have ignored the biblical call to serve orphans, widows, and the poor.
Safari
Today Jennifer, Molly, Daniel, and I did a safari in Lake Nakuru National Park. Here are some pics and a little God story.
Amazing Community
Today we experienced some amazing community – with a church in the rural village of Kabarak and in a traditional Kenyan dinner with friends. Plus an update on Samuel, Dorcus’s son.
The Beautiful and the Not-So-Beautiful
Wednesday in Kenya we experienced the beautiful and the not so beautiful as we served a community living on a landfill and then visited Lake Elementaita and Menengai Crater.
Extreme Makeover Blog Edition
Notice anything new around here? I hope so. Last night I stayed up until 1:30 AM giving LiveIntentionally.org a long overdue extreme make over. I wanted to improve the look and functionality…
