Be a Part of our Trip to Kenya

Posted on May 20, 2009

Springs of Hope, KenyaI’m very excited to announce that my wife, Jennifer, and I will be traveling to Nakuru, Kenya this summer to serve along side our friends Joe and Molly Bail at Springs of Hope.  Joe and Molly have been living in Nakuru ministering to the people of that area and building a home for children who have been orphaned by AIDS.

As excited as I am about going on this trip, I am actually more excited about the potential to share this experience with you – whether you can actually travel with us or not.

Go with Us!

First of all, I am really hoping and praying 8 other people will join us on this trip.  We will be leaving Saturday July 11 and returning Monday July 20.  Cost will be approximately $2,200 – $2,500.  I know there are a million reasons why you may think you can’t go – it’s only 8 weeks away, I don’t have the money, I would have to make arrangements for my kids.

Just pray about it.  If God wants you to go, He will provide the means and help you work out the details.

This is going to be an amazing life-transforming experience, and there’s nothing I love to see more than people’s lives transformed.  If you’re interested, let me know ASAP!

My hope is that some of the people who go with us on this trip will go on to lead future trips to Kenya.

Donate Supplies

I’m still working out the details, but another hope I have is for each person going to Kenya to bring an extra suitcase full of things for the kids at Springs of Hope.  Things like books, Bibles, school supplies, clothes, or toys.  As soon as I know more specially what they need most, I’ll post it here.

Financial Support

I am not going to go around asking people for money for myself or others who go, but if you feel like you want to help financially support the those going, I’m not going to stop you. 🙂  You can send a check to Cypress Meadows Community Church and put “Kenya Trip” on the memo line.  The money will first go to cover the baggage fees for bringing donated items, then dispersed evenly to everyone going.

Once I know who is going with us, we may also do some sort of fundraiser, but I don’t know right now.

Watch and Pray

Most of all, and regardless of whether you join us in any of the ways mentioned above, I hope you’ll follow us as we make preparations and then while we’re in Kenya.

You can start by joining the Kenya Trip Facebook Group.  My plan is to send out a weekly update to all group members just to keep everyone in the loop.  This group is NOT just for those interested in going but for everyone who wants to be kept in the loop and pray for us.

I’ll probably also post updates here on the my blog before the trip and God-willing from Kenya too!

Whether you go, donate, support, or watch and pray thanks for being a part of this trip and for helping to make it possible.  This is going to be great!
