StrengthsFinder – What are your strengths?

Posted on March 25, 2008

Strengths Finder 2.0 bookAs I mentioned yesterday, I recently read StrengthsFinder 2.0 by Tom Rath and did the online strengths assessment.  After completing the online assessment a Strengths Discovery and Action-Planning Guide was emailed to me listing my top 5 strengths.  It said my top 5 strengths are:

Analytical
Relator
Learner
Responsibility
Focus

I think that’s accurate for the most part, but I’m a bit skeptical that relator and responsibility are that high.  (BTW, being a skeptic and demanding strong rational evidence is one of the characteristics of Analyticals.)    Additionally, I’m surprised that developer and activator are not in my top 5.  I’m always taking the initiative to start things as well as looking for opportunities to teach, write, and mentor people to become the best they can be.

If you’ve done the StrengthsFinder assessment, what are your top 5 strengths?  Do you think they’re accurate?

I found StrengthsFinder to be very affirming and helpful, more than any other assessment test I’ve taken.

Having talked with a very experienced trained StrengthsFinder coach, the top 5 strengths indicate the strongest themes that a person has or would have if developed accordingly. Mine are input/ ideation/ strategic / adaptability / woo.

It could be that developer and activator are your #6 and #7, and given your context, you’ve used those strengths more than some of your top 5.
