Please welcome me to 2001

Paul

iPod NanoTuesday evening, the day after my birthday, I took the gift cards I received from my parents and brother, Kurt, down to Best Buy and bought my first iPod - the new iPod nano with the video screen.  So, yes, you can now welcome me to 2001.

I had never got an iPod before because I never have time to listen to anything.  I work at home, church is less than 2 miles away, and so is virtually every place else I go on a regular basis, so I don’t spend much time in the car.  I have my whole library of 300+ CDs ripped to my laptop, and can listen to anything I want from my desk.  The only time I would regularly use an iPod is on the 2 mornings each week when I run.

Last year when I bought a new phone, I got one with an MP3 player built in.  And I had been using it to listen to music and I even listened to a book I had gotten from the library on CD, ripped to MP3, and uploaded.  But the software to interface with the phone was terribly difficult to use, and it actually took longer to upload music to the phone than it took to listen to it.  Seriously.  A 4 minute song would take like 5 minutes to upload.

After just a few days, I’ve got to say I LOVE THE IPOD NANO!  Wow!  I’m trying not to sound like a teenager here, but it’s like the coolest thing ever.  I uploaded about 20 CDs of music in minutes, uploaded some pictures of my wife and kids, even put a little video clip I shot of my two oldest kids and I riding Thunder Mountain at Disney.

I also listened to my first podcast Wednesday morning.  Let me clarify… I’ve listened to plenty of recorded audio online, but not having an iPod I never had the experience of subscribing to a podcast and simply havng the next episode show up on my mp3 player without having do anything.   So, let me give a shout out to the guys at Geeks and God, whose podcast was my first.

Anybody else love their iPod?

Thoughts...

Yeah, I know this blog theme is boring. I haven't found one I like yet. If you find a cool Wordpress theme with a person climbing a mountain, running up a hill, or something else fitting let me know.
