I think we need to hold on to the premise that our goal is to be effectively adding value to the community we serve.

Let's examine (or develop) our goals so we can clearly know what we want to achieve and whether that is being done.

Let's set the strategy with the help of those who "get" strategy.

Then evaluate the process and success.

Growing our volunteers into Christ followers is certainly a goal I think is relevant and powerful.

So let's get the move on!!

Chris, I took a few notes from Bill's talk about Reveal:

- Survey found that seekers and new believers were very satisfied, but more mature believers were not
- Should teach people to become self-feeders
- Developing personal spiritual growth plans
- Go to revealnow.com

I also had the opportunity to read the book and blog about it earlier this week: http://www.liveintentionally.org/2007/08/08/a-preview-of-reveal-where-are-you/

A couple thoughts on this talk...

- While I agree in principle that a person can be more effective than simply giving unskilled labor, we can’t overlook the spiritual value of putting yourself in a position where you see and interact with people in need.

- It's also very difficult to measure the spiritual impact of serving a community. Sometimes you're just planting seeds and don't know what impact they'll have.
